The Center for Mind and Brain plays a role in several collaborative research groups that involve multiple faculty members, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.
Adolescent Studies Project
This project is part of a 10-year longitudinal study titled "The California Families Project," under the direction of principal investigator Rick Robins, co-principal investigators Amanda Guyer of the Department of Human Ecology and Paul Hastings of the Department of Psychology. Project researchers are examining the development of depressed mood and depressive disorder among Mexican-origin adolescents 16 to 19 years of age.
Cochlear Implant Study
Researchers involved in the Cochlear Implants Project, coordinated by Drs. David Corina and Lee Miller, are investigating how the use of cochlear implants influences language and cognitive brain processing in young deaf children.
Language, Cognition & Brain Research Group
The Language, Cognition and Brain Sciences Research Group consists of faculty members, postdoctoral researchers and students from several disciplines who conduct studies of language from linguistic, psycholinguistic and cognitive neuroscience perspectives.
Memory and Plasticity Group
The Memory and Plasticity Group is an alliance through which scientists from a wide range of disciplines work synchronously in explorations of the processes of memory formation, retention and organization in the human brain.
Shamatha Project
The Shamatha Project, led by Clifford Saron, is one of the most ambitious and comprehensive longitudinal studies of meditation ever conducted. Investigators are studying how intensive contemplative training benefits mental and physical health.
Visual Cognition Research Group
The Visual Cognition Research Group is a group of faculty members, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students who work together at the UC Davis Center for Mind and Brain to deepen understanding of vision, mind and brain.
