'Cognition' Journal Taps Tamara Swaab as Lead Editor

Cognitive neuroscientist is international journal's new editor-in-chief.

Professor Tamara Swaab has been appointed the incoming Editor-in-Chief for the journal Cognition, effective January 1, 2020. She is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and Center for Mind and Brain at the University of California, Davis, where she is also the Director of the Cognitive Neuroscience of Language Laboratory.

Dr. Swaab brings significant editorial experience to post, currently serving as a Section Editor for both Neuropsychologia and the Neurobiology of Language, and previously as a section or associate editor for Linguistics and Language Compass, Frontiers in Psychology, and the Journal of Neurolinguistics. She currently also serves as the Treasurer of the Society for the Neurobiology of Language. Her research is focused on the cognitive and neural bases of language comprehension, from theoretical foundations to translational studies in brain damage, schizophrenia and aging. Dr. Swaab conducted her doctoral training at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, in the Netherlands, and has returned twice (2007 and 2016) as a Research Fellow.

As Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Swaab looks forward to upholding the high standards that have made Cognition a leading international journal in studies of the human mind, and supporting the community in advancing open access in scientific reporting.
