NSF funds new studies of brain attention mechanisms

Dr. Mangun, Dr. Usrey and Dr. Whitney have received a new three-year NSF grant to investigate brain attention mechanisms.

They will measure how selective visual attention influences early visual processing, and specifically, how subcortical brain structures interact with cortical systems in the control of attention-related visual analysis. Their work will integrate electrophysiology and functional brain imaging to investigate neural mechanisms.
