Founder of T.E.C.T.U.M. (Tracking Eye Control To Understand Mind). My research interest focuses on the interaction between oculomotor control and early visual attentional mechanisms, and how this interaction may be reflected on the EEG and ERPs coming from lateralized stimuli presentation. New technical approaches are now being developed to reach these goals. Finger crossed. Keywords: Superior colliculus → Oculomotor Control → Eye Movements → Visual Attention → EEG → ERP

ERPLAB Toolbox (---The first public release of ERPLAB is now available!!! ---) by Javier Lopez-Calderon — last modified 2010-10-18 11:40 AM
ERPLAB Toolbox is a set of open source, freely available Matlab routines for analyzing ERP data. It is tightly integrated with the EEGLAB Toolbox, and it operates from within the EEGLAB GUI. The development of ERPLAB Toolbox is being coordinated by Steve Luck and Javier Lopez-Calderon at the UC-Davis Center for Mind & Brain, with financial support from NIMH. If you wish to contact the development team directly, please send an email to erplabtoolbox@gmail.com.
Focus on Cognitive Psychology Research by Javier Lopez-Calderon — last modified 2009-10-18 12:08 PM
Cognitive psychology deals with information processing, and includes a variety of thinking processes, including perception, attention, memory, knowledge representation, categorisation, language, problem-solving, reasoning, and judgement. It is also concerned with the structures and representations involved in cognition. Cognitive psychology has significant applications in all areas of human endeavour. It is also the subject of intensive study when applied to health and ageing in the absence of a significant health problem, as well as education and human-computer interaction. Other examples are eyewitness memory, autobiographical memory, spatial cognition, skill training, suggestibility, expertise and skilled behaviour.
The Neurobiology of Stress: An Evolutionary Approach by Javier Lopez-Calderon — last modified 2009-10-18 02:07 PM
In Chapter 8, Bacigalupo and López-Calderón analyze the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in diverse cognitive functions, particularly in relation to attentional and mnemonic functions. In addition, these authors analyze the effects of PTSD in the physiology and morphology of the amygdala, hippocampus and prefrontal cortex in human subjects, attempting to offer a neurobiological basis for the cognitive alterations observed in these patients.
Sindrome de Deficit Atencional (Book in Spanish) by Javier Lopez-Calderon — last modified 2009-10-18 02:43 PM
BEYOND ENDOPHENOTYPES: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO ATTENTIONAL DEFICIT/HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER by Javier Lopez-Calderon — last modified 2008-03-25 08:25 AM
We put special emphasis on the projection from the mesencephalic superior colliculus to the dopaminergic nuclei as an important triggerer of stimulus-related dopaminergic responses and attentional shifts, and as a possible locus in the etiopathology of ADHD.
