I conduct two lines of research within
a broad focus of perception and action in humans. One line investigates
the perception of objects in peripheral vision and our ability to reach
toward them. These projects aim to shed light on the questions about
the neural processing of visual integration, and the roles that
attention and awareness may play for perception and action.
I am also interested in how people with visual impairment use a probing device such as a white cane to gather sensory information (e.g. tactile, proprioceptive & auditory) in order to perceive and act within their environment. These experiments seek to determine how the amount and form of sensory feedback aides in mobility and recognizing object features within a controlled environment.
