The common thread in my research is an interest in the mapping of space onto the visual areas of the brain. As spatial representations progress from precise retinotopy to more complex organizations that incorporate attention, head/body orientation, and many other factors, how does this information combine to ultimately reflect what we perceive? Also, what can the organization of a particular area tell us about its likely functions? Current projects include attentional effects in early visual cortical areas, position sensitivity and attentional modulation in the human pulvinar, and the representation of crowded objects at various stages of processing.
