Dr. Lisa Oakes
Principal Investigator
Dr. Oakes received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991 and
was a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the University of Iowa
from 1991 to 2006. She joined the University of California Davis community
in 2006 and is a Professor of Psychology.

Heidi Baumgartner
Psychology Graduate Student
Heidi received her BA from Stanford University in 2005,
where she studied developmental psychology. She worked as a neuroimaging
research assistant in the Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research
at Stanford before joining the Infant Cognition Lab at the
University of California, Davis as a graduate student in 2009.
Karinna Hurley
Human Development Graduate Student
Karinna received her BA and MA degrees from the University of California - Santa Barbara
in 2003 and 2005, where she studied Literature and Child and Adolescent Development.
She also received an MS degree in the Evolution of Language and Cognition from
The University of Edinburgh, UK. Her research interests include children’s memory,
categorization, and how contextual factors outside the lab impact learning within the
lab. Specifically, she is interested in the role pets play in infants cognitive development.

Lab Manager
Lisa graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree majoring in
Psychology with a minor emphasis in Human Relations. She joined the University of
California Davis Community as the Infant Cognition Lab Manager in 2007.

Lab Manager
Em graduated from University of California Davis with a bachelor's degree is Psychobiology.
She joined the Infant Cognition Lab as an undergrad research assistant in the Summer of 2007.
Since graduating in the Spring of 2009, she has continued on as a co-Lab Manager.
