The IRC supports basic science and clinical research that investigates the structure and function of the nervous system, including perceptual, motor and cognitive function using real-time functional imaging techniques, and research that investigates systemic physiology and morphology in health and disease.

Institute is an international, multidisciplinary research organization, committed to excellence, collaboration and hope, striving to understand the causes and develop better treatments and ultimately cures for neurodevelopmental disorders. Standing shoulder to shoulder, families, scientists, physicians, educators, and administrators are working together to unlock the mysteries of the mind.

The UC Davis Department of Linguistics and the associated Graduate Group in Linguistics offer programs of study leading to the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in linguistics, as well as two minor programs, one in general linguistics and one in linguistics for language teachers. The M.A. program is designed for students wishing to teach English to speakers of other languages. The Ph.D. program has areas of emphasis in second language acquisition and development or structural/theoretical linguistics. The Department of Linguistics also administers the English as a Second Language Program for UC Davis students.

The UC Davis Department of Neurology offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous and neuromuscular systems. These conditions can affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. Patient services are available for adults, and pediatrics ranging from newborns to teenagers.

Neuroscience remains one of the most rapidly-expanding disciplines in Biology and Medicine. It continues to absorb technological advances from other fields of science that are by no means limited to the traditional areas of biology. Neuroscientists today use techniques ranging from molecular genetics of simple multicellular organisms to imaging the living human brain.

The Philosophy Department offers degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Undergraduates may earn a Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) in Philosophy or minor in Philosophy while majoring in another subject. Graduate students may obtain the degrees Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Philosophy.

Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior (NPB) emphasizes the understanding of vital functions common to all animals. All animals perform certain basic functions - they grow, reproduce, move, respond to stimuli and maintain homeostasis. The physiological mechanisms upon which these functions depend are precisely regulated and highly integrated through actions of the nervous and endocrine systems to determine behavior and the interaction between organisms and their physical and social environments.
